This panorama of Alumni Stadium, taken by Christopher Gjevre, captures the action of a Boston College Eagles football game. The roots of Alumni Stadium and on-campus football at Boston College date back to 1915. Years later, after playing at two off-campus sites, the current stadium was built on Boston Colleges lower campus and opened in 1957. Renovations took place in 1971 and 1998, bringing seating capacity to its current 44,500. The Eagles football team, a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, began play in 1892 and is consistently ranked among the nation's best for academic achievement and graduation.
